— Jordan's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities revealed that the number of
visitors to Jordan decreased by 32 percent compared to the same month last
year. The Ministry, in a statement, reported that the number of visitors to the
Kingdom reached about 64,100 last month, compared to more than 95,000 in the
same month of the previous year, reflecting a decrease of over 30,800.

The
statement also showed that the number of overnight visitors was approximately
405,700 compared to 409,000. The total number of visitors to the Kingdom during
the first month of the current year decreased by 6.7 percent, reaching a total
of 469,800 (overnight and daily visitors) compared to 504,000 in the same month
of the previous year, Al-Ghad reported.
The
number of visitors from Arab nationalities to Jordan reached approximately
243,200 last month, an increase of 7.1 percent compared to the same month of
the previous year, which reached 226,900.
The
number of Jordanian expatriates increased by 3.4 percent during the last month,
reaching 147,400 compared to 142,500 in the same period of the previous year.
European countries to JordanThe
number of visitors from European countries to Jordan decreased by 45 percent,
reaching 47,200 last month compared to 85,600 in the same period of the
previous year.
Asian countries to Jordan
The number
of visitors from Asian countries to Jordan decreased by 29.6 percent last
month, reaching 16,600 compared to the same period of the previous year, which
reached 23,600.
American countries to Jordan
The
number of visitors from various American countries to Jordan decreased by 44.3
percent, reaching 11,800 visitors, compared to the same period of the previous
year, which reached 21,100 visitors.
African countries to Jordan
The
number of visitors from various African countries to Jordan reached
approximately 3,400 during the first month of the current year, decreasing by
10.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Saudi Arabia to Jordan
The
number of visitors from Saudi Arabia to Jordan increased by 68.8 percent during
the first month of the current year, reaching 99,600 Saudi visitors compared to
59,000 in the same period of the previous year.
The
number of visitors from the US to Jordan decreased by 42 percent during the
first month of this year, reaching about 8,000 visitors compared to 13,800
American visitors in the same period of the previous year.
The
latest data from the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) shows that tourism revenue
during January of last year increased by 0.4 percent compared to the same month
of the previous year, reaching $554.2 million.
