AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Nasser Shraideh, on Thursday said Jordan's gross domestic product (GDP) at constant market prices grew by 2.9% during the second quarter of 2022, compared to the same period last year.
According to Department of Statistics (DoS) data, he said preliminary quarterly estimates showed that the Kingdom's economic sectors achieved growth during 2nd quarter of 2022, compared to the same period of 2021.
Jordan's extractive industries sector achieved the "highest" growth rate during this period at 7.4%, contributing 0.19% to the achieved growth rate, he said.
Meanwhile, construction sector expanded by 4.9%, contributing 0.14%, followed by transportation, storage and communications sector by 4.5%, contributing 0.38%. Wholesale and retail trade, hotels and restaurants sector grew by 3.9%, contributing 0.35% to the achieved growth rate, he pointed out.
