Sharif died Saturday of injuries sustained three weeks prior at Al-Aqsa when he was shot by Israeli forces.

Official spokesman for the ministry, Haitham Abu AlFoul, said in a tweet Tuesday that the attack on the mourners, which resulted in many injuries, and the violation of the sanctity of the cemetery is an inhumane behavior that is condemned and rejected, stressing the need for Israel to respect its obligations under international humanitarian law as the occupying power in East Jerusalem.

The ministry’s spokesperson stressed that Israel must stop these provocative practices and halt all violations against the Palestinians.
