AMMAN Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zina Touqan met with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio Monday to discuss strengthening cooperation and various regional and international issues of common interest.اضافة اعلان

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Safadi emphasized Jordan's commitment to bolstering the historical partnership and relations between Jordan and Japan. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his enthusiasm to meet with King Abdullah in Japan next month to discuss improving ties, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Strategic dialogue session outcomesThe meeting touched on the outcomes of the third strategic dialogue session held the day before between Safadi and his Japanese counterpart, Yoshimasa Hayashi. 

The session aimed to reinforce cooperation in economic, investment, and defense fields while enhancing coordination on regional and international issues.

Kishida praised Jordan's key role in maintaining security and stability in the region and its humanitarian role in hosting Syrian refugees. 

Safadi, in turn, lauded Japan's support for Jordan and its contribution to development programs in the energy and water sectors. He also emphasized the importance of Japan's support for refugees and UNRWA.

The officials also discussed numerous regional and international issues, including the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution, which Japan supports. 

Safadi warned of the seriousness of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, urging the need to stop unilateral Israeli measures and find a political horizon for resolving the conflict based on the two-state solution.

Free and open Indo-Pacific Moreover, the discussion covered the Free and Open Indo-Pacific. Safadi reiterated Jordan's support for Japan in its efforts to resolve outstanding issues with North Korea, including the case of the abductions of Japanese citizens.

Apart from the meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Safadi and Touqan also held separate meetings with Hosoda Hiroyuki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, Tanaka Kazunori, the Chairperson of the Japan-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship League, and Sasaki Nobuhiko, the Chairman of Japan External Trade Organization.

Additionally, the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan hosted Safadi for a dialogue session during his visit. The Deputy Prime Minister discussed Jordanian-Japanese relations, the peace process in the Middle East, refugee crises, and the latest regional developments.
