In a speech during the meeting, Safadi emphasized that the Israeli occupation is the root of the conflict in the region, and that Israel's unilateral and illegitimate actions, its continuous and ongoing violations of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law, and the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza undermine all chances of achieving peace in the region.

Safadi stressed the need to recognize the Palestinian state, and to intensify efforts to materialize this state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-state solution, as the only way to end the conflict and achieve security, stability and peace in the region.

Safadi warned of the danger of Israel's continued military operations in Gaza and Rafah, and the obstruction of the entry of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to the Strip, whose people have been suffering from an unprecedented humanitarian disaster since October 7, and the danger of unilateral and illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The meeting, chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, in cooperation with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, was attended by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Mohammad Mustafa, and ministers and representatives of: UAE, Egypt, Algeria, Bahrain, France, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Canada, Turkey, Britain, the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
