Meanwhile, the number of electric vehicles in Jordan has reached about 45,000, according to Al-Saa News.

Speaking at an EV charging station workshop hosted by the USAID and attended by ministries and national institutions on Tuesday, EMRC Chairman Ziyad Saaida noted that there are several charging station licensing applications currently pending approval, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Saaida said that the EMRC has issued regulations for charging station activities and set tariffs for operating stations. He also emphasized that the commission requires all new gas stations to offer EV charging service as a requirement for obtaining a license.

The chairman expressed his gratitude to USAID for launching the Jordan Energy Sector Capacity Building Activity (ESCB), carried out by Deloitte, which mainly focuses on the regulatory aspect of the EV charging stations.

The workshop was held as a part of the ESCB, with the main objective of drafting legislation for EV charging stations and encouraging the private sector to invest in this new economic activity in order to promote sustainable development.
