Criticizing government policies is not considered ‘fake news’ – PM Khasawneh

AMMAN — On Tuesday, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh that criticizing government policies is not considered as ‘fake news.’ The statement was made during a session of the Senate, discussing the draft of the Electronic Crimes Law, which has now been amended and sent back to the Lower House for approval. اضافة اعلان

Khasawneh added that such criticism does not amount to defamation, vilification, or derogation as stated in Article 15 of the law, Hala News reported. Meanwhile, he clarified that a small, yet vocal minority has been engaging in violating the privacy of Jordanians, both in their private and public lives through cyberbullying.

Thus, he emphasized the need for regulating and framing cyberspace to protect freedom of expression and encourage constructive criticism.
