The project will begin with the Zarqa–Mafraq Road as the first phase, followed by the Amman–Irbid Road and the Safawi–Iraqi border Road.
Maintenance works include removing damaged asphalt layers and replacing them with new ones in accordance with international standards, repairing hazardous depressions, implementing road markings and traffic safety signs along the routes, in addition to supportive works to ensure pavement durability.
The project is part of the ministry’s ongoing strategy to preserve road infrastructure, considered a vital artery for economic and social development. Well-maintained roads help facilitate safe mobility, boost international and domestic trade, reduce future maintenance costs, and limit traffic accidents.
The ministry will apply partial detours by isolating one lane on each road using plastic barriers, while keeping the other lane open for traffic. Once maintenance is completed on the first lane, work will shift to the second.
Work sites will be equipped with all necessary traffic safety measures, including temporary detours and warning signs. The ministry also stressed the importance of adhering to instructions from project teams and Public Security personnel.
The ministry urged road users to exercise caution and follow guidance issued by the ministry or the Public Security Directorate, noting that updates on project progress will be published on its official website and social media platforms.
