Birth rates in Jordan decrease by 3%, while deaths stood at 30,000 in 2022

AMMAN — Official statistics released by the Jordanian government showed a 3 percent decrease in the birth rate in 2022 when compared to the previous year's figures, according to Khaberni. اضافة اعلان

The total number of births registered stood at approximately 182,000, of which around 93,000 were male infants and 89,000 were female, according to the 2022 Annual Statistical Abstract.

The figures exclude the number of babies born to foreign parents, which stood at 10,275. In addition to the registered births in the Jordanian governorates, the number of foreign births totaled 192,266, according to data provided by the Passport and Civil Status Department.

DeathsMeanwhile, there were 30,000 deaths recorded in Jordan in 2022, a decrease from the 38,000 recorded in 2021 and 32,000 in 2020.

The statistics also show that 748 Jordanians living abroad passed away in 2022.

All governorates of Jordan witnessed a varying decrease in the number of deaths compared to the previous two years.
