Armed Forces: Prevailing weather conditions did not hinder the readiness of Border Guard forces in performing their duties.
The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) foiled ten attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the Kingdom’s northern and western borders at dawn on Wednesday.
In a specialized operation on the northern front, the Eastern Military Zone successfully thwarted nine smuggling attempts involving large quantities of drugs carried by electronically guided balloons. These balloons were launched simultaneously, exploiting the prevailing weather conditions in an attempt to distract Border Guard units and evade surveillance.
Meanwhile, the Southern Military Zone thwarted a smuggling attempt on the western front via a drone carrying approximately 100 slabs of hashish.
Through precise monitoring and tracking, and in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, Border Guard units in both the Eastern and Southern zones successfully intercepted all attempts across various locations. The devices and their cargo were brought down within Jordanian territory, and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities for necessary legal action.
The Jordan Armed Forces reaffirm that they will deal firmly with anyone attempting to undermine national security and its resources. JAF continues to harness all its capabilities and potential to maintain the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan amidst current regional developments.
