642 cases, zero deaths in 24th epidemiological week

AMMAN — The Ministry of Health Sunday said that the Kingdom recorded 642 coronavirus infections. At the same time, no virus-related fatalities were reported in the 24th epidemiological week (11-18 June), compared to the 402 cases recorded in the previous week, indicating a 60 percent rise, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

According to the ministry's brief, 11,694 PCR tests were conducted during the 24th week, compared to 12,430 during the previous week, with a 6 percent drop. The positivity rate reached 5.4 percent, compared to 3.2 percent during the 23rd epidemiological week, up by about 72 percent.

It also said that only five patients currently receive treatment at the Kingdom's hospitals, compared to 3 patients a week earlier. The number of active cases is 502, compared to 322 a week earlier, an increase of about 56 percent.

On the national vaccination program, the ministry pointed out that the number of shots administered during the 24th week stood at 3,219 for the first jab, 7,255 for the second, and 1,763 for the booster dose, totaling 12,237 shots, compared with 15,716 shots a week earlier, marking a 23 percent drop.

The total number of first dose recipients stands at 4,798,051, at a 75 percent rate for the 18yrs and over target group and 4,528,092 for the second jab, at a 71 percent rate, and 664,203 for the booster shot.

Regarding immunization for the 12-17 age group, 236,606 received the first dose at a 25 percent rate, and double jabbed recipients reached 198,345 at a 20 percent rate. Meanwhile, among the 5-11 years age group, 255 and 179 children received the first and second doses, respectively.
