Madaba Governorate is witnessing an exceptionally bountiful harvest season this year, following an unprecedented rainy season the likes of which has not been seen in decades. The plains of Madaba and Dhiban are filled with wheat and barley stalks in a sight unseen for many years.

The Director of the Madaba Governorate Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Bassam Abu Al-Ghanam, stated that the abundant rainy season encouraged farmers to cultivate wheat and barley crops, with approximately 25,000 dunams planted with wheat and 65,000 dunams planted with barley.
He added that the average production rate in the governorate reached 350 to 450 kilograms per dunam for the wheat crop, and 350 to 400 kilograms per dunam for barley. He noted that the Ministry had previously announced the purchase of wheat and barley crops from farmers at preferential prices to assist them in marketing their products and to bolster the Kingdom's strategic reserves of these essential crops.
Abu Al-Ghanam indicated that the Directorate has issued 142 certificates of origin to farmers in Madaba and Dhiban for their wheat and barley crops, paving the way for purchasing their harvest at preferential rates and delivering them to the silos of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply.
