Mansaf on the UNESCO's heritage list proves its Jordanian origin

AMMAN— The permanent representative of the Kingdom to UNESCO, Makram Al-Qaisi , said that there are two types on the UNESCO’s list of tangible heritage includes archaeological sites, while  intangible heritage list includes music, cuisine and some practices carried out by societies, according to Jo24. اضافة اعلان

Al-Qaisi added that “Mansaf” is one of the oldest dishes ever known to human gatherings and was associated with social occasions and feasts, which reflects the structure of Jordanian society, the value of the product, and the harmony in its components.

He pointed out that many countries have included some dishes on the list of intangible cultural heritage, proving a certain dish belongs to them, and the Mansaf on that list proves that it is originally Jordanian, describing it a great achievement.
Qaisi also said, "Everyone who eats Mansaf loves its taste and rituals, and we have done more than one ritual to promote Mansaf, such as holding Mansaf banquets.”

He also stressed that Mansaf is not only represented by food, as it is a tradition that accompanies food and the method of preparation, noting “It is a cultural aspect, representing an identity, and expressing Jordan's culture.”
